Meghan Markle joined the Firm in 2018 following her wedding to Prince Harry, and soon reportedly earned a unique nickname—straight from King Charles III himself.
According to royal insiders, King Charles gave Meghan the nickname "Tungsten", inspired by the strong and resilient metal known for its durability.
The name was reportedly a nod to Meghan’s unwavering determination and "unbending" nature.
A palace source told The Mail on Sunday’s Charlotte Griffiths in June 2018: "Prince Charles admires Meghan for her strength and the backbone she gives Harry, who needs a tungsten-type figure in his life as he can be a bit of a softy. It’s become a term of endearment."
While the nickname might sound intense, it was meant as a compliment to Meghan’s character and presence within the royal family.
During the early stages of Harry and Meghan’s relationship, King Charles reportedly expressed nothing but admiration for his new daughter-in-law.
According to a Bazaar report, Charles was said to have told friends: "She is so intelligent and so nice. She makes Harry happy. We could not like her more."
His fondness for Meghan was evident when he walked her down the aisle at her royal wedding after her father, Thomas Markle, was unable to attend.
Though their relationship has faced challenges in recent years, the early bond between Meghan and King Charles was one of mutual respect and warmth.
