King Charles sends powerful post-Brexit signal in Macron state visit speech

In a powerful post-Brexit gesture, King Charles will declare “no borders” between the UK and France during a lavish state banquet honouring French President Emmanuel Macron’s three-day visit to Britain.

The monarch’s speech will reflect on over 1,000 years of shared history and culture as the two nations look to strengthen ties amid global uncertainty.

The French president and First Lady Brigitte Macron arrived in the UK today, welcomed by Prince William and Princess Kate at RAF Northolt before travelling to Windsor for a ceremonial reception.

Tonight, at Windsor Castle’s St George’s Hall, the King will praise the enduring friendship between the UK and France, saying: “These challenges know no borders: no fortress can protect us against them this time.”

He will add that the two nations “share not only values, but also the tireless determination to act on them in the world.”

This marks Macron’s first UK state visit since Brexit and the first European leader hosted by King Charles since his ascension.

It sets the stage for a potential September visit from US President Donald Trump, reinforcing the UK’s diplomatic strategy through royal pageantry and personal diplomacy.
