Prince William is set to travel abroad in a surprise solo trip confirmed just hours ahead of departure.
Kensington Palace has announced that the Prince of Wales, 43, will fly to Zurich, Switzerland on Wednesday to attend the UEFA Women’s Euro match between England and the Netherlands.
As patron of The Football Association, William’s support for the Lionesses remains strong, just weeks ago, he visited the team at St George’s Park to wish them luck and even helped print their match shirts.
The trip comes hot on the heels of a busy royal schedule. Just a day earlier, Prince William and Princess Kate participated in France’s three-day state visit to Windsor, joining King Charles and Queen Camilla in welcoming French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.
While Kate, also 43, will not be accompanying William on this trip, it's unknown whether any of their children will join him at the match.
The whirlwind travel highlights William’s dual role as a working royal and passionate sports ambassador.
His presence in Zurich continues the royal family’s visible support of women’s football on the global stage.
