Prince Andrew will not face any charges over his ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, the FBI has confirmed.
The agency has officially ended its investigation into the Duke of York, declaring that no criminal charges will be filed against him or any other high-profile associates of Epstein.
The decision has sparked backlash from victims of Epstein, many of whom had hoped for greater accountability.
Despite settling a lawsuit with Virginia Giuffre in 2022 for an undisclosed sum, without admitting liability, Andrew has consistently denied the sexual abuse allegations made against him.
The FBI, alongside the US Department of Justice, stated that “unfounded theories” surrounding Epstein’s connections have distracted from efforts to pursue justice for real victims of child exploitation.
Officials also confirmed that hours of CCTV footage from Epstein’s final days in custody, before he was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell, will be released to the public.
The case has cast a long shadow over Prince Andrew, who stepped back from royal duties in 2019 following intense public scrutiny after his infamous BBC Newsnight interview.
