Prince Harry’s surprise move raises hopes of full royal return

Prince Harry’s latest move has sparked fresh speculation that the Duke of Sussex could be plotting a dramatic comeback to royal life.

The 41-year-old prince has fiercely challenged the Government’s decision to strip him of automatic armed police protection during his visits to Britain.

Now, in a surprising U-turn, the Home Office has agreed to reassess the ruling that downgraded his security.

Prince Harry has long argued that he remains a high-risk target due to his military service in Afghanistan and his global profile.

Royal watchers believe the review could open the door to more frequent UK visits, potentially with Meghan and their children, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

Some commentators suggest the move may also ease long-standing tensions between Harry and the Royal Family, particularly amid signs of a slow thaw in relations with King Charles.

Royal reporter Bronte Coy told The Sun: “For there to be this very dramatic U-turn in the whole situation where he is effectively getting what he wants, although we don’t yet know the outcome, it feels like an extraordinary new chapter in the saga.”

“It comes at such an interesting time, when we’ve been watching Harry’s moves towards reconciliation with his father, especially after they met up in September”, she added.

“It does beg the question, is something afoot? Are we moving towards clearing the path for Harry to be more involved in the UK and the Royal Family?”

The Royal and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) has now instructed its Risk Management Board to reassess Harry’s threat level, the first such review in nearly six years.

If the board concludes that the Duke warrants armed protection, British taxpayers would once again foot the bill for his security during UK visits.
