Prince Harry’s return to the UK has stirred fresh royal tensions, with one expert warning that the Duke of Sussex is no longer trusted by the Royal Family.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers told The Sun that Harry has “caused a lot of harm” with his memoir Spare and other public comments, leaving senior royals wary of what he might reveal next.
“It would be in his, and everybody else’s, interests if somehow he could form some sort of personal reconciliation with his father,” Vickers said.
The expert revealed that King Charles once pleaded with Harry, telling him: “Don’t make my last years miserable.”
But Vickers believes that reconciliation will only be possible if Harry issues an apology and gives firm assurances that no private conversations will end up in another interview, documentary, or book.
“Until then, they don’t trust him,” Vickers said, stressing that both Charles and Prince William need that guarantee before opening the door to peace talks.
Harry, who stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and moved to California with Meghan Markle, remains estranged from much of his family despite expressing hopes of reconciliation in recent interviews.
