King Charles III - King Charles health - King Charles Royal family update

King Charles, born Charles Philip Arthur George on November 14, 1948, ascended to the throne in September 2022 and is the reigning monarch of United Kingdom and 14 other commonwealth realms. His accession followed the passing of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, making him the oldest person to become king in British history.

Known for his strong eye to rule, Charles was born during the reign of his maternal grandfather King George V1 and became the apparent heir soon after his mother Queen Elizabeth took over the throne in 1952.

Charles early education took place at the Buckingham Palace before he attended Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, known for their rigorous curriculum. In 1967, Charles enrolled at the Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1967, where he studied archaeology, anthropology, and history, and earned his bachelor’s degree in 1971.

He married Lady Diana Spencer on July 29, 1981, in a grand royal wedding at St. Paul’s Cathedral. The couple had two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. However, the two faced marital struggles and ended up separating in 1992. Charles and the former Princess of Wales officially got divorced in 1996, a year before Diana died in a car crash.

Charles then married the love of his life, Camilla Parker Bowles on April 9, 2005, in a civil ceremony at Windsor Guildhall. She became Queen Consort following his ascension to the throne in 2022.

The monarch had a challenging start to 2024 after Buckingham Palace revealed he was diagnosed of an undisclosed form of cancer and took a brief break from public facing duties.

He resumed Royal duties in April 2024.

According to latest reports, Charles’ health is "moving in a positive direction," however, he will continue treatment in 2025.
