King Charles has expressed his sorrow for the victims of devastating floods in South and Southeast Asia.
The southern Asian region was hit with massive tragedy in November which has resulted in thousands being affected.
So far more than a thousand people have been reported to be dead while many more are missing in India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Sri Lanka.
The Palace shared the king’s statement in which he expressed him and Queen Camilla are “deeply saddened to learn of the devastation caused by the terrible storms across South and Southeast Asia.”
The royal couple expressed their condolences to the families of those who have succumbed to death in the tragedy.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the many whose homes have been destroyed and to all who are awaiting the news of the loved ones missing”, the message further read.
The director-general of Sri Lanka’s disaster management centre said the country is facing a “humanitarian crisis of historic proportions” in which more than 1.1 million people are displaced by floods and landslides.
Meanwhile in Indonesia, the death toll has risen to 604.
