Prince William and Princess Kate marked a sombre event by releasing an emotional statement ahead of the French President's visit to the UK.

On July 7, Kensington Palace shared photos from the Prince of Wales' sombre appearance at Memorial Gardens in Hyde Park to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the tragic 7/7 attacks.

During his outing, William was visibly sad as he and the family members of the victims remembered the precious souls.

The message alongside the pictures reads, "Remembering the victims of the 7/7 attacks on this 20-year anniversary by joining survivors and bereaved families at the Memorial Gardens in Hyde Park this afternoon."

"Our thoughts remain with the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and with those who bear the scars of the attacks to this day."

William and Catherine's new statement came ahead of their reunion with King Charles at the welcome ceremony of President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte.

As per the reports, the future King and Queen will greet Mr and Mrs Macron at RAF Northolt on behalf of King Charles III. Later, the senior royals will attend a formal ceremonial welcome of the foreign guests at the Royal Dais in Windsor.
