Meghan Markle’s lifestyle series With Love, Meghan has stirred up new controversy after claims surfaced that country music legend Dolly Parton allegedly snubbed an invitation to appear on the Netflix show.
Celebrity commentator Kinsey Schofield told journalist Maureen Callahan on her podcast that Meghan’s team wanted Dolly to be a guest, but the singer's camp declined, allegedly to avoid risking her public image.
“They knew this ask was just to give Meghan credibility in this lifestyle space,” Schofield said.
Dolly, who has authored several cookbooks and owns a line of baking products, would have been a fitting guest on Meghan’s cooking-themed series.
However, the show's production team quickly denied the claims.
In a statement to Page Six, they said: “This story is false. At no point did anybody from the show's production or Netflix approach Dolly Parton or her team.”
While the first season of With Love, Meghan featured stars like Mindy Kaling and Abigail Spencer, it’s unclear who will join the Duchess in season two.
Reports suggest Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, won’t appear in the upcoming episodes.
