Prince Harry was reportedly “so desperate” to start a family that he ignored his brother Prince William’s advice to slow things down with Meghan Markle, according to a royal expert.
Speaking on Palace Confidential, Daily Mail royal correspondent Rebecca English said the Royal Family had “strong reservations” about how quickly the Duke of Sussex was moving in his relationship with Meghan.
“All of the family felt Harry was rushing into this too quickly,” she said. “William memorably told him, ‘Maybe you just need to take a little bit of time to get to know this woman and plan your future more.’”
Harry and Meghan met in 2016, were engaged the following year, and married in 2018.
Despite early enthusiasm, their relationship with the Royal Family has since become strained, culminating in their departure from royal duties in 2020.
English added that Harry tends to “fall in love very quickly” and was eager to settle down, which may have fueled his urgency.
These claims echo new details from biographer Sally Bedell Smith, who has published insider accounts from the Queen’s close confidante, Lady Elizabeth Anson, about the family’s unease over the whirlwind romance.
