Prince Harry reportedly wants to keep royal doors open for his children, Archie, and Lilibet, but insiders say Prince William may have other plans.
According to The Guardian, Harry wishes to retain the HRH (His/Her Royal Highness) titles for his children so they can choose whether to undertake royal duties in the future.
But this ambition appears to be met with “bemusement” within royal circles, according to The Sunday Times.
Palace insiders reportedly see Harry and Meghan’s public criticism of the monarchy as at odds with their wish for their children to one day serve it.
Meanwhile, Prince William, 43, is said to be planning a “tidy-up” of the monarchy when he becomes king, which could include formally revoking the HRH titles from Harry, Meghan, and their children.
Following in King Charles’s footsteps, William is expected to continue efforts to slim down the monarchy and streamline royal roles.
The likelihood of Archie and Lilibet joining the royal roster in the future remains uncertain, and increasingly unlikely if William’s vision becomes reality.
