An insider has revealed how Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is really spending his days at Royal Lodge as his royal exile deepens and public appearances become a thing of the past.

Once one of the most senior members of the Royal Family, the 65-year-old former Duke of York has been stripped of most of his titles and duties following the fallout from his association with the late Jeffrey Epstein and longstanding allegations made by Virginia Giuffre.

While senior royals gathered at Buckingham Palace this week for their annual pre-Christmas lunch, Andrew was reportedly more than 50 miles away, spending the day horse-riding on the Windsor estate.

With no public role and few official obligations remaining, sources say Andrew has retreated into a much quieter, almost reclusive routine.

According to an insider speaking to The Telegraph, Andrew has fallen back on some long-standing habits now that his royal responsibilities have vanished.

The source claimed: “He does watch a lot of TV, he’s always done that, he’s always been a bit of a couch potato.”

Alongside television, Andrew is said to fill his days with horse riding, shooting, playing golf, and keeping largely out of sight.

“But at the moment,” the source added, “he’s coming to terms with the fact he’s lost everything that mattered to him: his status, his position in the Royal Family and military, and to a lesser extent, a fractured family.”

Andrew has agreed to vacate the sprawling 30-room Royal Lodge on the Windsor estate and move to the much smaller Marsh Farm on the Sandringham estate.

“He doesn’t want to leave Royal Lodge,” the source claimed, adding: “He’s prevaricating with his head in the sand, hoping it will all go away, stringing it out.”

Among the possessions reportedly set to move with him is his infamous collection of 72 teddy bears, long the subject of royal intrigue.
