Is King Charles described as a monster behind closed doors? Insider reveals

Despite having one of the most high-pressure jobs in the world, King Charles is not the difficult boss some might expect, according to a former member of his staff.

Speaking to the Daily Beast, the ex-employee dismissed the idea that Charles, 75, is a tyrant, insisting: “He’s absolutely not a monster in the office.”

While acknowledging that the King can “snap sometimes” under pressure, especially with cameras often present, the insider said most staff “like working for him” and respect his diligence.

The former staffer praised Charles for being “extremely well prepared” in meetings and “respectful of expertise,” describing him as diligent, well-read, and serious about his work.

However, they added that he does not “suffer fools,” which contributes to the demanding environment of his office.

Before becoming King in 2022, Charles employed 116 official staff members across his residences, including Buckingham Palace, Highgrove House, and Windsor Castle.

His team at the time included chefs, valets, dressers, and house managers. Today, his household is believed to mirror the size of Queen Elizabeth II’s, who reportedly employed nearly 500 full-time staff across her estates.

The portrait painted by the insider shows a King who is both human and hardworking, with high standards but deep respect for those who serve him.
