Prince William is said to be fiercely protective of his children’s privacy, putting his family above all else despite his increasing royal responsibilities.
The Prince of Wales, 44, is first in line to the throne, but royal experts say his main focus remains on Princess Kate and their three children: Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
Former BBC royal correspondent Jennie Bond told The Mirror that William is “almost obsessive” about shielding his children from the spotlight, a priority shaped by his own difficult childhood.
“After a childhood spent shuffling between the homes of his quarrelling parents, William is determined to give his family the stability he missed,” she said.
Bond explained that the family’s decision to remain in Windsor reflects William’s desire for privacy and a sense of normalcy.
“They can have a great deal more privacy in a secluded house in Windsor Great Park than they could ever enjoy if they lived in the middle of a major tourist attraction like the Palace or Castle,” she added.
The Wales family is set to move later this year from Adelaide Cottage to the larger Forest Lodge, their planned “forever home,” even once William becomes King.
