King Charles is rewriting the summer script. Instead of vanishing to Balmoral for months like Queen Elizabeth II, the “workaholic” monarch is keeping the diary open, and the UK has noticed.
Last week, Charles led VJ Day 80th anniversary commemorations with a moving audio address echoing his grandfather King George VI, honouring those who fought in the Far East and Pacific in WWII.
Joined by Queen Camilla, the King attended a Service of Remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire, then met VJ veterans and their families in the midday sun.
The public saw that as a powerful, hands-on tribute that defines the Carolean era: a monarch willing to interrupt his summer break for duty.
It’s not the first time, as Charles stepped out last year to visit Southport after the tragic stabbings that shocked the country, signalling his determination to show up when it matters.
And unlike his mother’s near three-month Balmoral stays, the King’s Scottish sojourn is notably shorter, with an even busier autumn ahead.
Come mid-September, Charles is set to welcome US President Donald Trump to Windsor for an official state visit, thrusting the monarchy straight back into the global spotlight.
