Prince Andrew set for £500K compensation if he agrees to quit Windsor home

Prince Andrew may be in line for a £500,000 compensation payment if he agrees to leave his lavish Royal Lodge home, reports claim.

The 65-year-old royal, who has lived in the 30-room mansion in Windsor Great Park for over two decades, is said to be in ongoing talks with King Charles’s representatives about a voluntary departure following mounting pressure over his “peppercorn rent” arrangement.

According to The Daily Telegraph, the Crown Estate would be obliged to pay Andrew approximately £558,000 if he surrendered his 75-year lease, signed in 2003.

The deal saw him pay £1 million upfront for the lease and £7.5 million in refurbishments, while owing just a symbolic “one peppercorn” in rent each year.

While King Charles reportedly wants his brother to relocate, potentially to properties on Balmoral or Sandringham, Andrew has resisted leaving the home he shares with Sarah Ferguson.

The Public Accounts Committee has confirmed it will seek details about Andrew’s lease amid public scrutiny.
