Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl has sparked some controversy as netizens accuse the global popstar of basically ripping off a years-old song by the Jonas Brothers.

Soon after the highly anticipated album was dropped, listeners began making comparisons and pointing out similarities that the twelfth album has with previously released songs.

As music enthusiasts reached the final, title track from the 12-song album featuring Sabrina Carpenter, the melody of the song began sounding awfully familiar.

Internet users flocked to their social media platforms to discuss what the new track reminded them of: Cool by the Jonas Brothers which came out in 2019.

This has turned into a massive debate, with many saying that the two songs sound exactly the same, while others note that they can’t hear much of a similarity.

“So did Taylor basically morphed Jonas Brothers song COOL or what because The life of a show girl sounds EXACTLY THE SAME, not just the sample,” one user wrote on X (formerly Twitter) with a clip of the two songs being played one after the other.

Another user agreed with the original poster, adding “that is literally copy paste, jonas brothers should sue not gonna lie.”

Notably, fans have also pointed out that the freshly dropped Wish List is reminiscent of one of her previous tracks, Glitch from Midnights.
