Taylor Swift’s newly released album is already breaking records, and might surpass Adele in one thing, but internet users are pointing out technicalities that would make the former’s accomplishment less impressive.
The Life of a Showgirl was speculated to challenge Adele’s 2015 hit 25 for the biggest album opening in U.S. history, which made netizens point out technicalities that cast doubt on the 14-time Grammy winner’s possible achievements.
As soon as reports that Taylor might dethrone Adele began making rounds, people flocked to their social media to argue the volume of variants the former’s album has as compared to the ones the latter put out.
One user wrote on X (formerly Twitter), “Doesn't count when Adele did it with 1 version,” while another wrote, “congrats but adele will always be that girl bc she did it organically.”
“Love Taylor but ur not gonna tell me she’s challenging ADELE’s 25 (1 singular version) with her 8 versions of tloas,” a third user noted with a straight face emoji and a fourth echoed, “so many things can be said ab how organic adele’s feat was.”
Adele’s 25 became the fourth-best selling album of the 21st century, since it sold over 22 million copies worldwide.
