Taylor Swift is gracing swifties with more interviews to obsess over, and as she promotes The Life of a Showgirl, the global popstar is also taking a look back at the time she had to re-record songs.
The Red singer reconnected with the BBC Radio 1 host Greg James, and a surprising fact about the singer has just come to light.
At one point in the chat, the host asks the 14-time Grammy winner which version of her songs, from the re-recordings and the originals they should play on the radio to which she replied, “whichever one you want.”
Greg then proceeded to play both her versions of the 1989 hit Shake It Off for a visibly excited Taylor, who noted that she was so proud of the re-recordings because they were the same as the younger versions.
The host then asked her to guess which one of the versions he was playing at a certain point, to which the Is It Over Now? singer answered, “That’s younger,” to which the author then said “No, older.”
Taylor’s jaw dropped as she stared in shock before repeating that she couldn’t tell between the versions because they were so well done the second time around.
Greg also stated that they celebrated her buying back her Masters recordings from Shamrock Capital in a grand manner on the radio station, adding that before the deal they would be strictly monitored by swifties to only play the ‘Taylor’s Versions’ of songs.
Yes, Taylor purchased the rights to her Master recordings for her first 6 albums on May 30, 2025.
