Taylor Swift has unleashed her highly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, sending fans into a frenzy after months of cryptic teasers and clues.
The 35-year-old 14-time Grammy winner dropped the record on Friday on October 3, describing it as her most “vivid” and “self-reflective” work yet.
Produced with long-time collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, the album bursts with glittering pop anthems, a dazzling contrast to the muted tones of her last release, The Tortured Poets Department.
The lead single, The Fate of Ophelia, already has fans dissecting its Shakespeare-inspired lyrics, while the music video premiered in cinemas as part of her lavish Official Release Party of a Showgirl.
Elsewhere, Swift teams up with Sabrina Carpenter for their first official duet, while her track Father Figure cheekily borrows from George Michael’s 1987 classic.
Ever the master of fan engagement, the Lover singer teased Showgirl through a whirlwind of Easter eggs, from secret lyrics hidden in Spotify pop-ups in New York, to capitalised letters on Apple Music that spelt out cryptic messages.
Moreover, she’ll take her sequins to The Graham Norton Show tonight, before a Stateside takeover on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night With Seth Meyers.
