Ariana Grande drops major update on comeback album 'Petal'

Ariana Grande has sent fans into a frenzy after dropping a major update about her long rumoured musical comeback.

The chart topping singer officially confirmed on Tuesday that her upcoming project, Petal, will mark her eighth studio album.

Slated for July 31 release, the record marks the 7 Rings artist’s anticipated return to music after recent years spent developing her acting career.

Earlier reports suggested the Thank U, Next hitmaker had quietly completed the album and was preparing for a summer release, with sources claiming she was eager to share the new body of work.

In a statement about the upcoming record, she described it as “something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging”.

The announcement arrives after understated clues from the pop sensation, who had shared studio moments earlier this year, sparking growing fan anticipation.

During a message on her Brighter Days hotline, she told fans, "We just wanted to say thank you all so much to all of our loyal customers for making this last year together something we'll never want to forget."

"Our staff here at Brighter Days are so looking forward to continuing our mission of bringing happiness and healing to as many as we can this summer in person."

"We're counting down the 8s, oops! I mean, the days."

For the unversed, the songwriter dropped her previous album, Eternal Sunshine, in 2024, with its tour scheduled to begin in June.

In the meantime, she has devoted much of her time to the Wicked movie projects, with the first instalment earning her an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress as Glinda.
