Taylor Swift has finally given fans what they have been begging for, her hotly anticipated 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
The 35-year-old pop queen announced the release on Instagram this morning, October 3, calling the record “a self-portrait” and praising long-time collaborators Max Martin and Shellback for helping her bring it to life.
“I can’t tell you how proud I am to share this with you, an album that just feels so right. A forever thank you goes out to my mentors and friends Max and Shellback for helping me paint this self portrait. The Life of a Showgirl is out now,” she gushed to her 280 million followers.
The album, packed with 12 glossy pop anthems, marks Swift’s most unapologetically glitzy era yet, following the raw storytelling of Folklore and the retrospective magic of Midnights.
Fans online have already dubbed it “her 1989 on steroids”, with early streaming numbers crashing Spotify within minutes of release.
It has been a whirlwind few weeks for the Eras Tour superstar, who first teased the project back in August on her then boyfriend Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights.
At the time, she promised “bangers only” and she has delivered.
The release comes just seven weeks later, hot on the heels of her headline-making engagement to the NFL tight end.
With critics already calling Showgirl “her most confident and flamboyant work to date”, Swifties everywhere are bracing themselves for yet another record-breaking era.
