Donald Trump's special advisor on coronavirus Scott Atlas resigns

President Donald Trump’s special adviser on COVID-19 team Dr. Scott Atlas resigned, confirmed a White House official on Monday.

Atlas, 65, served as a special advisor to Trump on coronavirus task force body. He tweeted the photo of his resignation letter on Monday.

Atlas had no expertise on handling the spread of infectious disease. He has been reaching the end of his 130-day term as a “special government employee,” according to the official.

Atlas is a professor of neuroradiology and health care policy advisor. He is a senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, a conservative think tank. He joined White House four months ago but his comments on the ongoing pandemic in the country and his controversial behavior and clashes with his fellow team members as Dr. Anthony Fauci, sparked controversaries.

Months ago, Atlas had criticized the policy of countrywide lockdown to control the surge in COVID-19 cases and spread misinformation among people about the importance of wearing face masks.
