Avengers: Doomsday is announced to be releasing on December 18, 2026 with a budget of nearly $400 million.
However, things are said to be hitting rock-bottom as Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro confirmed removing nearly 1000 employees.
It was also revealed that Marvel Studios has been the worst impacted by the layoffs, affecting the Oscars-winning visual development team.
They have been notable for working on projects like The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy and Spider-Man film.
The reported 8% reduction sparked a backlash on Disney as fans prepare for a boycott of projects that are being produced.
One of the Instagram users noted that “this could still potentially affect doomsday releases negatively. They’re horrible both in practice and timing decisions.”
Another netizen shared that they will “not be watching” projects which will use AI in the future, while a third shared: “So they want Marvel to go downhill again?”
While many fear this might be because of AI, Forbes reported that the elimination does not appear to be caused by the use of artificial intelligence.
The outlet confirmed that few artists from the team will have a change in their job status from being full-time employees to contract-based.
It was revealed that the skeleton crew is still working to look after hiring people on project basis.
