‘Social Reckoning’ producer breaks down reasons for ‘Social Network’ sequel

The Social Reckoning, sequel of hit 2010’s Social Networking has released its first look.

During the CinemaCon event, the annual convection of movie theater owners got an exclusive peek at the film.

The project follows events nearly two decades after tech prodigy Mark Zuckerberg invents world’s biggest social platform.

Young engineer Frances Haugen (Mikey Madison), enlists Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allan White) of the Wall Street Journal to endure a dangerous whistle-blowing journey that will expose the corporation’s most guarded secrets.

As per Variety, the trailer showed Haugen breaking her silence with White’s WSJ reporter.

Bound by ironclad nondisclosure agreements, Haugen reveals that Facebook leadership was well aware of the platform’s harmful effects on teens, and its knowing proliferation of misinformation, which contributed to acts of political violence.

Meanwhile, Jeremy Strong is seen in the background having clipped reddish hair and subtle accent to make the audience feel Zuckerberg’s presence.

The producer, Aaron Sorkin, also explained the importance of the sequel.

“There isn’t a life that Facebook’s algorithm hasn’t touched, and that influence has shaped everything. So it’s time to say more,” Sorkin told the Vegas crowd.

In addition to, Strong, Madison and Allan White, Bill Burr also stars in the film.

The Social Networking is set for wide release on October 9.
