Bryan Cranston is continuing to defend a famously disliked character from the critically acclaimed series Breaking Bad.
The actor, who played the main character Walter White stood up for Anna Gunn’s character, Walter’s wife Skyler White, since she has been vilified by the audience for getting in the way of her husband’s crimes.
In a recent episode of Hot Ones Versus, the Tony award winner was joined by his Malcolm in the Middle co-star Frankie Muniz, when the latter declared that he loved the Vince Gilligan drama but hated Skyler because all she did was complain and Walter’s life would have been easier without her in it.
“Now, see, she got a lot of blowback from that, well, first of all, Anna Gunn is a superb actor, but she got, ‘Oh, why don’t you get off his back?’ Wait a minute. Let me understand this,” Cranston stated.
“Her husband leaves without any explanation, she’s pregnant, he’s making crystal methamphetamine and people have died. And she’s the bitch? Like, we couldn’t understand,” he added in defense of Anna’s character.
Bryan, as well as the actress and Breaking Bad’s creator have all defended the character in the past as well, noting that it is troubling that the character is so notoriously disliked.
