The Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan is opening up about the use of generative Artificial Intelligence after Frankenstein director, Guillermo Del Toro spoke about his views.

These conversations and stances have emerged since the AI industry has infiltrated close to every aspect of people’s lives, including filmmaking with an AI actress called Tilly Norwood and Showrunner, a platform powered by the technology.

The Pluribus maker talked about the advancing technology in an interview, saying that he is opposed to it.

In quotes obtained via Deadline, Vince stated, “I do not care for AI, but I’ll try to be magnanimous and say that anytime a new technology is created, I have to believe that the central impetus of it is to make the world a better place.”

The 58-year-old eloquently put that he is cautious of new technology, as he can’t see it contributing positively in the world, but is open to being proven wrong, adding that he believes that it depends on the technology itself.

Vince hinted that AI seems more destructive than useful since it is taking work and creativity from people, and is taking away the spark in people by hindering their learning, since it has already learned the things they would need to, like using a compass or drawing or painting.

After being told of his colleague, Guillermo having a similar aversion to using AI because he said he’d rather die than indulge, Vince gushed over the movie maker.

“I love Guillermo del Toro, what a genius he is. Please quote me on that, because he’s an international treasure. And a guy that creative, the thought of a guy like him giving up the thing that animates him as a human being…” he revealed.

Notably, the Better Call Saul writer also said that he hadn’t used ChatGPT yet, because no one had threatened him to do so, implying he simply did not come across the need to.

How did Vince Gilligan come up with Breaking Bad?

Vince had a simle idea, which was to take a good man and have him do the unthinkable to save his family, and he built it from there.
