Guillermo del Toro recently opened up about Jacob Elordi's role as the monster in his upcoming horror film, Frankenstein.
In conversation with Variety, the 60-year-old director praised Elordi, saying, “The thing about Jacob is, he just has everything rolled into one.”
The Pacific Rim movie maker confessed that he was attracted to the 28-year-old’s “gangliness and his wrists,” which made him the best actor to play the monster.
Toro added, “His demeanour is innocent, but it’s encompassed in a six-foot-five frame.” He lauded the Euphoria star for having lashes like Karloff, the late British actor.
Elordi was chosen as the lead for Frankenstein after Andrew Garfield dropped out of the film because of scheduling conflicts.
The Pinocchio director revealed that he and the makeup artist spent nine months working on the monster’s look with Garfield as the model. After the Priscilla actor came on board, the duo had to start over with a nine-week deadline.
Later in the interview, Toro gave a nod to Elordi’s acting, “It’s like, very few words. Very few things I have to say, and he does it.”
Notably, Frankenstein follows an egotistical scientist who brings a monstrous creature to life and faces the consequences of going against nature.
The star-studded cast includes Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, and Christoph Waltz.
For the unversed, Guillermo del Toro’s horror adaptation of Mary Shelley's novel will be released on August 30, 2025.
