Christopher Nolan makes bold statement about rom-com movies

Christopher Nolan recently made bold declaration about romantic comedy genres.

The Odyssey director, who is known to make epic movies, confessed that he could not ever predict himself taking on a rom-com as he found it quite tough.

“I think doing a rom-com would be incredibly difficult,” the Oscar winner told the host during an appearance on Thursday’s episode of Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Nolan revealed that he “loves” watching rom-com movies, but directing comedy is one of the hardest jobs in the world.

The Oppenheimer director shared that it’s hard to “make people laugh that way”.

“The risk they take,” he continued.

Nolan explained that if he showed a movie to people and maybe they didn’t respond to bits of it, “I'm like, 'Ah, they don't get it. Whatever.'”

“There's no hiding behind that when you do comedy,” he added.

Nolan stated this is one of the reasons he’s “terrified” to make a romantic comedy.

Meanwhile, the director admitted he’s not scared to “use practical effects to bring to life Homer's epic poem movie adaptation”.

So far, the adaptation of The Odyssey reportedly emerged as a box office success, garnering $264 million global in its opening weekend.
