Matt Damon shares major update on 'Bourne' franchise future

Matt Damon has made it clear that he's ready to step back into the shoes of Jason Bourne.

The 55-year-old Hollywood star revealed that he's fully committed to bringing the iconic spy back to the big screen if the right story comes along.

Matt, who first played the memory-lost CIA assassin in 2002's The Bourne Identity, is hoping to reunite with filmmaker Edward Berger for a fresh chapter in the blockbuster action franchise. 

He has portrayed Bourne in four films, including The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and 2016's Jason Bourne, while sitting out 2012 spin-off The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner.

The Odyssey actor has never hidden his affection for the series and recently admitted the creative team is constantly searching for a new storyline worthy of the character's return.

Speaking to Parade last month, he said: "We're always looking to try to get another one of those because we loved it, everyone who worked on them. 

So there's always some attempt going on to write, to come up with a new story. So if you have anything, let us know."

Away from Bourne, Damon is keeping busy with several high-profile projects.

He currently stars as Odysseus in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey and also shared fresh details about his upcoming film from Everything Everywhere All at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert.

The Oscar-winning actor revealed the filmmakers won him over with an unforgettable pitch, describing the movie as a mash-up of The Breakfast Club, Inception, an anime film and even an unseen episode of The John Oliver Show.

Good Will Hunting star promised fans can expect the same blend of chaos and heart that made Everything Everywhere All at Once a global hit.
