Matt Damon talks about Ben Affleck’s reaction to his 'The Odyssey' role

Matt Damon revealed that he called his longtime friend Ben Affleck before his wife when he found out about landing the lead role in Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey.

The Saving Private Ryan actor shared that he first tried contacting his wife Luciana Barroso, but she was busy during a Zoom meeting, so he reached out to The Batman star instead.

"So, I immediately called my wife who was on a Zoom, and so she couldn't pick up and I called Ben Affleck," he said during an interview on 100 Questions With Tom Simons.

He mentioned that the filmmaker was excited about the news and even rushed to tell Barroso after their call, adding,

"He freaked out. I was on the phone with him for about a half an hour and they were at the office in L.A. and then I hung up with him and a minute later my wife texted, like, 'Why didn’t you tell me first?'"

Meanwhile, Tom Holland, who plays Telemachus in the film, shared that he told his wife Zendaya about his casting first.

Moreover, Damon also praised his friendship with Affleck, calling him "one of the great loves of my life" after their decades long bond.
