Rosie O’Donnell reflects on confidence struggles in early career

Rosie O’Donnell has looked back on her time filming A League of Their Own, recalling Penny Marshall’s comments about her body during the movie.

During her recent conversation with People, the star revealed how her appearance affected her confidence while making her way through Hollywood.

"When I would do late-night, my biggest concern wasn't my set - it was, did I look fat?" she said.

She added, “On League of Their Own, Penny Marshall didn’t help by saying, "Rosie, I want you to lose 20 lbs." I’m like, "You think I carry it around for fun, Penny?""

The A League of Their Own star stated that she now wishes she had appreciated herself more instead of being critical about her body at that time.

Additionally, she praised Marshall’s contribution to women’s sports, saying the filmmaker’s work on the movie left a major impact.

The 1992 film featured stars including Tom Hanks, Madonna, Geena Davis and Lori Petty, and followed a women’s baseball team during World War II.
