Rebel Wilson gets major win in Charlotte MacInnes case

Rebel Wilson has won a defamation case filed by actress Charlotte MacInnes over claims related to the film The Deb.

According to reports, an Australian judge dismissed the lawsuit on Wednesday, ruling that the actress was not liable for defaming the plaintiff, who starred in Wilson’s directorial debut.

The case focused on Instagram posts shared by the Pitch Perfect star, where she accused producer Amanda Ghost of inappropriate behaviour and other allegations during the making of the movie.

She claimed the social media posts damaged her image, with her representative confirming plans to appeal the court’s decision.

The 45-year-old actress reacted to the court’s decision through an Instagram post, where she thanked everyone who supported her during the defamation case.

She said, "Thank you to everyone who has supported me. I'm grateful this chapter has reached its conclusion and I’m looking forward to getting back to what I love most, my family and my work."

She added, "Thank you to the Judge and the Australian legal system who I have the utmost respect for."

The legal dispute began after Wilson and Ghost became involved in a separate conflict over The Deb. 

Meanwhile, MacInnes previously denied Wilson’s claims and described the allegations as harmful.
