Matt Damon reveals female stunt double stepped in for key 'The Odyssey' scenes

Matt Damon has shared an unexpected behind-the-scenes detail from Christopher Nolan's blockbuster The Odyssey, revealing that a female stunt performer doubled for him in several scenes involving the film's giant Laestrygonians.

Speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the 55-year-old actor explained that the production relied on practical filmmaking techniques and forced perspective to create the illusion of towering mythical giants. 

To achieve the effect, stunt performers of varying heights were cast, including a woman who stood in for Damon during specific shots.

"My double was a woman, a female stunt performer, who had the greatest arms I've ever seen," Damon said, adding that he thanked her on set for her work after meeting her during filming.

According to Daily Mail, the stunt performer has since been identified as Devyn Dalton, a veteran stunt artist known for her work on major productions including The Last of Us and the Planet of the Apes franchise. 

Moreover, Dalton also shared behind-the-scenes photos from the film on social media following its release.

Although Damon underwent an extensive physical transformation to portray Odysseus, he clarified that the body double was only used for sequences requiring the forced-perspective illusion rather than throughout the film.

The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan, features an ensemble cast including Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Lupita Nyong'o.
