Guillermo del Toro vows to protect art at Comic Con amid AI era

Guillermo del Toro, critically acclaimed filmmaker of several projects, sat down as a panellist at the San Deigo Comic-Con.

He made an appearance at the event mark 20 years of Pan’s Labyrinth, speaking about the inclusivity of the use of machine intelligence in creative works.

The director slammed the use of artificial intelligence: “Absolutely no g**d d**** AI,” before explaining his goals for future projects.

The Frankenstein star shared that he doesn’t care if traditional ways are “much more expensive” as he vowed to protect “the beauty and the redeeming power of art.”

He admitted it’s “not about who gets the job… it’s about, we are protecting the lineage of art.”

Explaining the detrimental impacts of artificial intelligence, Guillermo insisted: “If we cut a generation of people from learning their craft, you’re cutting the rest of the history” from them.

The statement was hailed by the online community as one of the Instagram users noted: “This is how every filmmaker should be reacting.”

Another netizen added to Guillermo’s idea of no AI, admitting: “Think of how many people are supported financially by not using AI,” highlighting the money being invested in people.
