Jerry Bruckheimer, director of Pirate of the Caribbean and Top Gun, shared new details about their upcoming instalments.

Johnny Depp starrer had five films in total from 2003 – 2017, with a sixth in development for years.

Meanwhile, Top Gun is also currently in active development but no filming has started yet.

The two time Oscar winner gave a major update on the upcoming parts of both the films, revealing that he is "expecting a script shortly" for Tom Cruise project.

In an interview with the Entertainment Weekly, he said, "I think it’s a horse race between the two of them, so we’ll see."

The F1 producer added, "Right now, Top Gun is a hair ahead, but that’s it. We’re expecting a script shortly."

Bruckheimer went on hint at Margot Robbie's involvement in the new Pirate film, after revealing that he had a discussion about it with her.

He also revealed that while he thinks the new part will see Depp reprising his role as Jack Sparrow in the film, the filmmaker previously shared that the next instalment will be a reboot.

It is set to be focusing on Jack Sparrow's son and a new major female lead likely to be Robbie.

Meanwhile, the Mission: Impossible star previously revealed that he was "working on" new Top Gun film, as well as the sequel to his 1990 drama, Days of Thunder.
