John Lithgow opened up about his working experience on set of Harry Potter as Albus Dumbledore.

The Crown actor stepped out at Rotterdam Film Festival, where his new Jimpa was premiered.

In conversation with Variety at the event, he reflected on the author J.K Rowling's trans statements, emphasising that while he "takes the subject extremely seriously" he has never met her and neither she is involved in the production at all.

However he praised the team involved in it, calling them "remarkable."

The 3rd Rock from the Sun star added, that he was very sad and disappointed when people opposed him for being part of the franchise.

For him taking the role was a hard decision since everyone around him "insisted I walk away from the job."

Discussing how it feels like playing the iconic character, the Emmy winner said that he is the oldest person in the cast and has just turned 80.

He continued, "I will be playing Dumbledore for the next eight years! I absolutely have to keep at it. I felt: 'Wow! That means I will live to be 88.' I have that in writing."

In addition to Lithgow, Janet McTeer, Paapa Essiedu, Nick Frost, Dominic McLauglin, Arabella Stanton, Alastair Stout and many more are starring in the series.

The streaming platform has confirmed that the Harry Potter series is scheduled to debut in early 2027.
