Marvel’s president, Kevin Feige and Avengers: Doomsday creators opened up about the opportunity of pitching many different universes against each other in one platform.
Following the reveal of Avengers: Doomsday first look in CinemaCon in Las Vegas, the company teased that "heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered."
In conversation with the Entertainment Weekly, the trio also emphasised on how the original X-Men actors became a big part of that multiverse collision.
"We're not talking too much about story, but I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding and earths encounter one another and different timelines encounter one another," Feige explained.
“We have to utilize them,” he continued, talking about the Fox-era X-Men star, whom he first worked with years ago.
“Deadpool & Wolverine was our first opportunity to do that and touch upon it, and it just felt like an amazing opportunity to pit multiple universes against each other, but you care about all of them,” he said.
The film unites generation of fans by bringing together the original X-Men, original Avengers, new Avengers, and Fantastic Four.
It picks up after Avengers: Endgame, with Robert Downey Jr. returning as the evil Victor von Doom (Doctor Doom).
Avengers: Doomsday is set to premiere on December 18.
