‘Avengers: Doomsday’ unveils first glimpse of Robert Downey Jr

Marvel Cinematic Universe has unveiled the first jaw-dropping look at Robert Downey Jr in the CinemaCon trailer for Avengers: Doomsday.

This marks Downey’s return to the MCU after playing Iron Man for over a decade, but this time in a completely new role as the iconic armoured villain from Letveria.

The trailer opens with the ruins of Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngesters and features Thor’s urgent narration warning the heroes that they face a threat greater than anything they’ve seen before.

He calls for unity, saying they will “need a miracle.” Other scenes include a rebuilt Avengers Toweer, interactions between Wakandans, Talokans, and the Fantastic Four, and a surprising memont between bearded Steve Rogers summons Thor’s hammer, leaving Thor stunned with the line “it’s not possible.”

In one clip Doom appears in his classic metallic mask and green cloak. Thor swings his axe Strombreaker at Doom, who casually stops it with his open palm.

The film is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. It brings together heroes from across the MCU including, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, X-Men, Fantsastic Four, Wakandans and many more.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, with Avengers: Secret Wars December 17, 2027.
