Pete Hegseth, who is the Defense Secretary of the United States, quoted the celebrated director Quentin Tarantino while delivering a prayer, whereas he likely meant to quote the Bible.

The government official took the podium at a Pentagon worship service and read a fake verse from the Holy Scripture that was featured in the 1994 film Pulp Fiction, and it was the altered version of Ezekiel 25:17 that is righteously delivered by Samuel L. Jackson’s character in the movie.

In the beginning he told the group that the prayer was recited by the “Sandy 1” Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) mission in Iran. “They call it CSAR 25:17, which I think is meant to reflect Ezekiel 25:17.”

Hegseth stated, “The path of the downed aviator is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of camaraderie and duty shepherds the lost through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children.”

He continued, “And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to capture and destroy my brother, and you will know my call sign is Sandy 1 when I lay my vengeance upon thee. Amen.”

The quote is almost an exact replica of the line said by Jules, the hitman in the film, before he shoots a man to death and is quite different from the actual Bible verse.

Notably, internet users poked fun at the moment as well as expressing surprise, calling the speech embarrassing or silly.
