Meghan Trainor, who was set to gone on her Get in Girl Tour on June 12, announced that it has now been cancelled.

Following the cancellation, many people called her out on untimely withdrawal.

The Made You Look singer’s best friend and ex-tour mate, Chris Olsen came to the rescue slamming the critics.

In a Tiktok video, he said, “I guess now it's become public knowledge that Meghan Trainor has cancelled her tour.”

He added, “And on one of the posts that was saying that that happened, the comment section was predictably vicious."

Questioning why the comment section announcing tour cancellation were so hateful.

"What is the end goal?" he wondered. "Because sure, the goal might be to make other people laugh because you're saying something that's mean, but you think it's funny.”

Olsen continued, “The goal could be to hurt the person you're commenting towards.”

He added that having received death threats in the past, he understands such comments often reflect a desire for the person to disappear, expressed in the harshest way possible.

Olsen also added that there are always going to be "people who annoy you" online, saying that it was part of life. He further called the energy wasted behaviour and urged a broader conversation about toxic online mannerism.

Trainor has not publicly responded to the criticism, focusing instead on her family and upcoming new album release.

Her seventh studio album, Toy with Me, is set to be released on Friday, April 24.
