Tim Matheson, the star of Virgin River series, shared details about his character Doc Mullins in Season 7.
The 78-year-old actor told that deprived of the medical license and struggling to regain the trust of his wife, is going through one of the most difficult periods in his life.
The veteran star informed Parade that Doc collides with a flashy doctor in the town of Grace Valley as he struggles through a bad break with Hope, played by Annette O Toole.
"That's the thing about 'Virgin River,'" Matheson noted. "You have friends, family, and loved ones to support you through the hard times and celebrate the good times."
He thinks that the Netflix show can give people something that is hard to find in the digital era of distance.
Moreover, he stressed, "People think posting on Facebook is a relationship — but it's not."
He explained, "Our show is a throwback to 'The Andy Griffith Show' — to Mayberry — where people are truly there for each other."
Matheson was asked about the scene where Doc gives a speech to the medical board, and his character tells them why he has given up corporate medicine.
He replied that he enjoyed shooting the scene where Doc was giving a speech. "That's what brought him to Virgin River," the American actor said.
The director is offscreen celebrating the June 2 paperback edition of his memoir, Damn Glad to Meet You: My Seven Decades in the Hollywood Trenches.
The first seven seasons of the Netflix series are available and Season 8 is now in production.
