South Park, a comedy series which is notable for its dark humour, issued a reason after facing an unexpected delay in airing its new episodes.
Despite giving justification, their fans are not convinced as they believe it has something to do with the assassination of Charlie Kirk and resulting backlash.
The adventurous show was called out for the move, pointing out they are “getting scared cuz of Charlie backlash after” the consequences faced by Jimmy Kimmel.
It was claimed by an admirer that the postpone is due to their "fear of President Donald Trump" as the series also “pulled Kirks episode,” even though the 31-year-old activist enjoyed it.
Another X user alleged that “Somebody is trying to scrub the record,” while a third netizen asked the creators if they are “hiding something” and if somebody “got killed in the episode.”
This came after a statement from Trey Parker and Matt Stone revealed that they were not able to “get it done in time,” expressing their gratitude towards “comedy central and… fans.”
Before this, the show missed the deadline of episode "Goth Kids" only once in 2013 due to power outage at their studio.
While the online narrative established links between the recent setback and the tragic death of Charlie, the creators called it a development issue.
On the other hand, Jimmy Kimmel’s show was “cancelled” after he made a remark about the death of the conservative activist, which was deemed insensitive and offensive.
