Seth Rogen finally opened up about the most asked question on social media: why didn’t the Emmy winners thank Sal Saperstein in their acceptance speeches?
On September 14, the 43-year-old actor celebrated his first Emmy win as the Outstanding Lead in a Comedy Series.
For context, in an episode titled Golden Globes, the characters repeatedly thanked Sal, played by Ike Barinholtz, including the guest star, Zoe Kravitz, who portrayed herself.
At the press interview after the awards ceremony, Rogen explained, “It’s our own joke,” he said. “It feels weird to reference your own joke, in my opinion.”
Barinholtz cut in, “I’m very disappointed.”
Netizens were hoping to see the running joke at the actual award show. One fan wrote, “It’s rude they didn’t thank him; he gave up so much for everyone else.”
Another follower penned, “I am not pleased with this answer; we needed at least one Sal Saperstein thanking.”
Notably, Rogen, who also directed and wrote the comedy series, confirmed the second season is in development and he’s on a recruiting mission to get more A-listers to appear in the show.
The Studio took home 13 Emmy awards this year, and only for its first season. The show, directed and written by Seth Rogen, was nominated in 23 categories.
