Jimmy Kimmel’s eponymous talk show has taken a huge blow after the host made remarks about Charlie Kirk’s shooter in his monologue.
The network, Disney's ABC, on which the show aired has confirmed that Jimmy Kimmel Live! has been pulled indefinitely.
Meanwhile the broadcasting company, Nexstar Media, has issued an official statement condemning the comedian’s remarks saying that they strongly object to the remarks made by him during his monologue on September 15.
“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Andrew Alford, president of Nexstar stated.
The remarks that have led to Kimmel’s cancellation were linked to the United States President Donald Trump’s ‘Make America Great Again’ supporters.
“We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang trying to characterize this kid who killed Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them,” the talk show host had said at the time.
For the unversed, Kirk was a right-wing political activist who was shot and killed by Tyler Robinson while at a speaking event at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Yes, in a social media address the talk show host wrote, “Instead of the angry finger-pointing, can we just for one day agree that it is horrible and monstrous to shoot another human?” adding that he is sending love to all the victims of “senseless gun violence.”
