King Charles is preparing for another highly anticipated reunion this week, just days after his emotional meeting with Prince Harry.
The monarch, 76, will welcome US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to Windsor Castle on Wednesday as part of their second official state visit.
While the event will bring all the pomp and ceremony of a state occasion, it will also mark a particularly meaningful moment for Charles, who shares a surprising personal connection with the First Lady.
Melania previously revealed in her memoir Melania that she and the King have maintained an “ongoing correspondence” since first meeting in 2005.
She wrote that she and Donald “exchange letters with King Charles to this day,” noting that the friendship was reignited when the couple visited the UK in 2019 during Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.
The Trump state visit will see the presidential couple hosted by King Charles and Queen Camilla, with insiders claiming the families have a warm relationship.
The highlight of the trip will include a glittering state banquet at Windsor Castle and a military fly-past by the Red Arrows alongside UK and US F-35 jets.
But Melania will also have another high-profile royal moment before leaving the UK.
On September 18, she will join Princess Kate at Frogmore Gardens to meet Chief Scout Dwayne Fields and young members of the Scouts’ Squirrels programme. Afterward, she will reunite with Donald Trump at Chequers as the visit concludes.
A source told the Mail: “The President and First Lady are thrilled that the Princess of Wales will play such a prominent role in their visit. The inclusion of Princess Kate in so many events during the state visit is an honour.”
