Prince Harry was reportedly left “red with anger” during Meghan Markle’s retelling of her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth II in their Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, recalled the moment she was suddenly told she would be meeting the late monarch while having lunch at the Royal Lodge in Windsor with Princess Eugenie.
Harry, 40, explained: “How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother? And that you will need to curtsy. Especially to an American. That’s weird.”
Meghan then performed an exaggerated curtsy on camera while laughing, saying: “Pleasure to meet you, Your Majesty.”
While the moment was intended to be lighthearted, a body language expert claims Harry’s reaction told a different story.
Jesús Enrique Rosas, known as “The Body Language Guy” on YouTube, analysed the clip and argued that Harry’s tense demeanor revealed his anger.
“The first part of Harry’s reaction tells me he knew what was coming,” Rosas said.
“He is serious even while Meghan is speaking quickly and joyfully. There’s no connection. He swallows hard, his jaw tightens, and his face flushes red – signs of covert anger.”
The expert noted that Harry’s expression showed “contempt” as Meghan giggled through her reenactment, pointing out patches of redness across his cheeks, temples, and nose.
Rosas added: “If he was simply ashamed, he might have smiled nervously. But he knew what was coming and he couldn’t stand it. That subtle swallow right before Meghan curtsied is telling.”
