Prince William and Kate Middleton have unexpectedly been dragged into a neighbourhood row after residents near Kensington Palace issued formal complaints over plans for London Fashion Week.
The Prince and Princess of Wales have lived in Windsor since 2022, but Apartment 1A at Kensington Palace still serves as their London base and office for official engagements.
Now, their neighbours are reportedly furious after learning that luxury fashion house Burberry will stage its catwalk show in the royals’ back garden at Perks Field between September 18 and 22.
According to the Daily Mail, locals on “billionaire’s row” have filed objections with the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, citing fears over traffic disruption, noise pollution, and litter.
Some have expressed frustration over what they describe as the “growing commercialisation” of the area, which has already hosted a multimillion-pound racehorse auction and previous Burberry shows in 2014, 2015, and 2016.
The High Commissioner of India has reportedly requested that noise be kept to an “acceptable level,” since the property frequently hosts diplomatic engagements.
Another complaint branded the event “intrusive,” noting that residents are still dealing with the impact of major renovations carried out by Foxtons estate agency founder Jon Hunt.
Burberry has said it consulted the Royal Household, Crown Estate, and local residents before confirming the show. Despite the row, the event is expected to go ahead as planned.
