Prince Harry’s TV career has been branded a flop by a royal expert, who argues the Duke of Sussex now has just one chance left to restore credibility in Hollywood.
Writing for The Daily Beast, commentator Tom Sykes claimed that with the exception of the couple’s hit Netflix docuseries Harry & Meghan, most of Harry and Meghan Markle’s projects have struggled.
“With Love, Meghan is a flop, Polo was a flop, and even the Invictus documentary, while worthy, hardly set the streaming world alight,” he wrote.
According to Sykes, Harry will return to his “sweet spot” when he attends the WellChild Awards in London on September 8, coinciding with the anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.
The annual event celebrates children living with serious illness and their cregivers, an environment where Harry has long thrived.
However, Sykes believes Harry’s only hope for a real comeback lies in creating a documentary about his late mother, Princess Diana.
He wrote: “The opening third of Spare, lyrical, devastating, and deeply revealing, remains the most powerful account of Diana ever told.
A film built on that foundation could be the Sussexes’ redemption.”
